When the former Deputy Director of the CIA, Bill Remington, takes off after charges of selling secrets to the Chinese, Jake Adams is hired off the books to find the rogue Agency officer. But with many friends in the Agency, and money siphoned to numerous off-shore accounts, this will not be an easy task. In fact, Remington has managed to hide for nearly a month without the Agency, Interpol, or any foreign agencies discovering his location. Jake finds himself in Taiwan, where he is attacked almost immediately and set up as a murderer. At the same time, a Chinese jet attacks a Taiwanese Navy ship, bringing the two Chinese countries to the brink of war. Jake races against time to uncover a conspiracy of factions trying to use this crisis to their advantage. Will Jake bring this traitor to justice before the Pacific Rim goes up in flames? With bullets flying from all directions, Jake's adventure in Southeast Asia could be his last battle.

Rising Tiger A Jake Adams International Espionage Thriller Series Book 10 edition by Trevor Scott Literature Fiction eBooks

Although this story contains many good action scenes and shoot-outs, there seems to be something missing at its core. While the characters flit from one end of the globe to the other, and back again, there doesn't seem to be a compelling reason for all the fuss. A rogue CIA agent and a very thin threat of a Taiwan/China war doesn't justify all the action. Possibly more space devoted to the political side of the story might make the plot more believable. Despite these drawbacks, this book was an enjoyable read.

Rising Tiger A Jake Adams International Espionage Thriller Series Book 10 edition by Trevor Scott Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Rather than evolving the characters and improving the riding with each story, The author continues to rely on stereotypes and hackneyed story lines. For his next book, he should try taking twice as long to write it, with most of that time going into the story arc. Maybe that way he would produce something twice as good.
The usual Jake Adams fast paced and exciting story, which is an enjoyable continuation of the series. Unfortunately, it fades some after the mid-point and you get the feeling that the author was either distracted from his usual focus on plot and story development, or more likely perhaps was rushing some to meet a deadline.
The book starts well, but is less that Scott's previous work as he wraps up the story. Still, it was not a disappointment for fans of the series.
The Scott Trevor novels of the Jake Adams series are okay, but mot up to Vince Flynn. I find the action somewhat tiresome and the storyline a little disconnected. In general, Scott's use of the English Language is somewhat tortured with grammar bordering on the atrocious with mixups in both person and tense in his sentence structure.
On par with Vince Flynn? Never! While these books have been entertaining, they don't have the intricacy of plot and subplots that a 4 or 5 star book have. A 4 star is a terrific book, while a 5 star is literary genius. I would read more in this series but if forced to choose there are other authors who do better jobs. And what is the meaning of introducing that explosive discovery of a son and have only a couple of very vague references to him. Very disappointing and irritating.
All 9 Jake Adams books I've read so far are good, fun reads. They could do with better proofreading. I am thrown for a loop when confronted by vocabulary errors such as "gate" when "gait" was intended, for example. Each of these novels I've read has included half a dozen or so of the kind of errors that make me shake my head and go do something else for a while.
At least Jake doesn't mind the innocents that get killed for being next to him, he would be emotionally crippled if he did... Well, these stories have gotten sillier, I'm afraid. The character is an American James Bond, but without the depth. I've read them because they were a couple dollars each. I don't know if I would spend $2.99 for another.
I have read many of the Jake Adams books by Trevor Scott. They all have a central character who is real resourceful and skilled. I like the way the plots unfold without having to wait for the end of the book to find out "everyone lives happily ever after, EXCEPT the bad guys'. I will continue to read books in this series.
