Written for readers age 10 and up -- enjoyed by adults!
"C.T. and his companion were lost in the African jungle. All the warning others had given the two missionaries rushed into C.T.'s mind. He had the uneasy sensation of being watched. C.T. shivered as he stared into the dense foliage surrounding him. He was exposed on all sides, clearly visible to anything or anyone concealed in the jungle."
Endowed with rare determination and a wry sense of humor, C.T. Studd unceasingly pursued a life devoted to God. A star English cricket player in his youth, C.T. did nothing halfway. When challenged by near tragedy and the words of an atheist, the wealthy young man became a missionary of extreme devotion.
Serving in China, India, and finally Central Africa, C.T. Studd was the first missionary to reach numerous tribes deep in the Congo. Together with the mission he founded, Worldwide Evangelization Crusade, this man who refused to retreat opened a way for Africans to hear the gospel for years to come.

This is a great series that can be enjoyed by young children and adults. I used them as part of the training for a short term missions campaign. Each of the fourteen team members read a different biography in this series and then reported to the rest of the team. It was reminder that the training topics we were learning were relevant and lived out by the faithful and fruitful missionaries introduced by this series of biographies. For many of the team this was their first introduction to reading Christian biography and they loved it!Positives of this series:
1) Great introductory overviews of the lives and ministries of the individuals.
2) Basic reading level for an increasingly illiterate culture
3) Short enough to be read quickly in a culture with an increasingly short attention span
4) Available in Kindle and audio book for the technologically inclined
5) Well written and holds your attention without being exaggerated and exploitative
6) Chapters are short and can easily be read to children at bedtime or by adults on lunch breaks
Negatives of this series:
1) Due to their brevity and target audience the series does not deal with the more negative aspects of an individual's struggles with sin and the weaknesses in their personality as sinners saved by grace.
2) Does not come across as hagiography (so idealizing the person that it borders on idolatry) but these introductions are not the place to get the full picture of these godly but imperfect champions for God. Instead they are great springboards to more extensive biographies that deal with the fuller picture of these heroic but very human Christ followers.

CT Studd No Retreat Christian Heroes Then Now eBook Janet Benge Geoff Benge Reviews
This book was very inspiring and well worth reading. I found it an interesting and honest account of a life consecrated to God.
Great reading for children!
My kids love the ywam audio series!
This book was amazing. I have loved every single minute of it. It is a wonderful story of a man in love with God. As Alfred said, "of one this we can be sure. C.T. Studd was no chocolate soldier." This man is a wonderful example of what a Christ-follower should be!!
I loved this book so much I gave 18 away as Christmas presents this year. its a compelling story well written and an extremely easy read! Highly recommended
These books are super easy to read which is why I like them so much! CT Studd is truly a hero of the faith. I'd invest the time to read about him!
What a work for the Kingdom of God he was sent on and completed for the Lord. Many came to know the Lord Jesus because of him and still are receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
